In May 2022, the Ordnance Department extended an invitation to defense companies in Thailand interested in providing information to the Royal Thai Army (RTA) regarding the procurement of spare parts for Ukrainian-made vehicles in use by the army. These vehicles include the KrAZ truck, BTR-3E1 armored personnel carrier (APC), and T-84 OPLOT M tank. Due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the RTA faced increasing challenges in sourcing spare parts directly from the manufacturers for maintaining its vehicle fleet. As a result, the army sought local companies capable of supplying locally produced or OEM parts as alternative sources.

The Ordnance Department arranged visits for interested companies to the units where these vehicles were stationed, allowing them to gather information about the required parts and submit proposals for what they could provide.

The staff and technicians from Akerush made multiple visits to the units to install and conduct tests on the parts we provided. These parts covered various systems, including the engine, transmission, suspension, electronics, and brake systems. Most of the components were OEM parts sourced primarily from Europe. The replacement parts were tested under the supervision of the unit officers and the maintenance battalion.

Upon completing the first testing phase, Akerush submitted a list of 87 items for the KrAZ truck and 71 items for the BTR-3E1. All parts passed the tests, ensuring compatibility and functionality. The trucks and APCs equipped with the new parts have been in use for over six months, including during the annual exercise, after which the test results were submitted to the RTA HQ for consideration.
